RESOLUTION 07-109(A)
A RESOLUTION OF THE
WHEREAS, Phase I of the two part South Peninsula Hospital expansion project is nearly complete and a ribbon cutting ceremony is expected before the end of the year; and
WHEREAS, Bid awards are expected for Phase II before the end of the year and construction is expected to commence in the spring of 2008; and
WHEREAS, A helistop was originally included in the plans for Phase II but is now listed as the first priority for additive alternatives due to anticipated cost increases associated with delays in the bid process; and
WHEREAS, Support for this alternative from both the Borough and the City is important to help secure State financial assistance in the event that the project cannot be completed as part of the base bid; and
WHEREAS, The reinforced concrete and steel hospital building structure currently interferes with cell phone reception and a new cell phone repeater antenna would enable physicians to receive urgent calls originating from both within and outside of the building; and
WHEREAS, The South Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board, the Hospital Operating Board, and the Hospital Administration have all asked for support from the City for these projects, including adding them to the already adopted 2008 City CIP List if possible; and

WHEREAS, The City of Homer supports both Phase I and Phase II of the Hospital expansion project.
