RESOLUTION 07-15(A)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA EXPRESSING SUPPORT
FOR PHASE 2 EXPANSION OF SOUTH PENINSULA HOSPITAL AND ADDING THIS
PROJECT TO THE 2007-2012 CITY OF HOMER CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN AND 2007
AND 2008 LEGISLATIVE PRIORITY LIST.
WHEREAS, South Peninsula Hospital (SPH) is the primary health care facility serving an area
population of more than 10,000 people; and
WHEREAS, The area population is growing steadily and demands for hospital services are likewise
increasing; and
WHEREAS, The SPH Board of Directors, Service Area Board, and the Kenai Peninsula Assembly
have all recognized the need for major expansion of the hospital; and
WHEREAS, Costs of expansion required that the project be divided into two phases, with Phase 1
currently underway; and
WHEREAS, Phase 2 Expansion, which will include construction of 18 single-occupancy patient
rooms and other major improvements, is still badly needed; and
WHEREAS, SPH is seeking state support to supplement support from hospital service area taxpayers.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Homer City Council hereby expresses support
for the SPH Phase 2 expansion and requests addition of said project to the City of Homer 2007-2012
Capital Improvement Plan and 2007 and 2008 Legislative Priority List.
PASSED AND APPROVED by a the Homer City Council this 8th day of January, 2007.
