RESOLUTION 07-18

A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL REQUESTING THAT THE TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE REVIEW AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE USE OF PIONEER AVENUE, LAKE STREET, AND THE BYPASS, AS A ONE-WAY TRAFFIC COUPLET AROUND THE CITY CENTER.

WHEREAS, Traffic congestion and routing in the City of Homer has been discussed and studied for many years; and

WHEREAS, The roundabout and stop light alternatives to relieve traffic congestion are significantly more expensive than the alternative of developing a one-way couplet for the same purpose; and

WHEREAS, It would be beneficial for the City of Homer to have the transportation committee review the couplet alternative and provide for citizen input into such a plan.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council requests that the transportation committee study the possible use of Pioneer Avenue, Lake Street, and the Bypass, as a one-way couplet around the city center, develop a simple concept design, and make recommendations on the plan.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 8th day of January, 2007.
