                                                            RESOLUTION 07-55

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE ADDITION OF SECTION 5.4.8 SICK LEAVE BANK TO THE CITY OF HOMER PERSONNEL REGULATIONS.

 

WHEREAS, A salary and benefit study was completed in 2005 and updated in 2006; and

 

            WHEREAS, One of the recommendations of the 2005 Salary and Benefit Study was to provide a 40 hour sick leave bank to all regular full-time city employees to provide leave benefits comparable with other cities; and  

 

WHEREAS, The following section will be added to the City of Homer Personnel Regulations:

 

5.4.8  Sick Leave Bank. Full-time employees will receive 40 hours in a calendar year to be placed in a sick leave bank during the first pay period of January.  Sick leave hours not used by year end cannot be carried over. Sick leave hours cannot be cashed out during employment or upon termination. Eligible part-time employees will receive sick leave pro-rated according to their scheduled work week.

 

Sick leave may be used for any absence due to personal injury, illness or temporary disability, personal medical and dental appointments, or the illness or injury of a minor son, daughter or spouse or the need to accompany a minor son, daughter or spouse to a medical appointment. Sick leave cannot be used for any absences where the employee is entitled to receive compensation benefits under the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act.      

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Homer by this resolution, hereby approves the addition of Section 5.4.8 Sick Leave Bank to the City of Homer Personnel Regulations.

 

PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council for the City of Homer on this 9th day of April, 2007.
