RESOLUTION OF THE
WHEREAS, In a
Memorandum dated
WHEREAS, The Chief recommended that Engine 4 either be refurbished or replaced in the near future; and
WHEREAS, The City Administration recommends that replacing Engine 4 with a new engine is in the overall best interest of the City and further, that the Council consider taking a loan to purchase it or examine some of the leasing options that are becoming increasing popular with Fire Departments; and
WHEREAS, Due to the fact that it will take many months to solicit proposals, select a firm, build the apparatus, and deliver it, it is likely that payment for the unit would not be required until FY 2008 Budget end; and
WHEREAS, The estimated replacement cost for Engine 4 is $350,000; and
WHEREAS, Kachemak Emergency Services Area (KESA) has expressed an interest in acquiring Engine 4; and
WHEREAS, The City Manager recommends that the City prepare an RFP to solicit proposals for a new engine for future consideration by the Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that every effort will be made to acquire non loan funding for this purchase.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the preparation and distribution of an RFP to solicit proposals for construction of a new engine and authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents.
