RESOLUTION OF THE
WHEREAS, Fire Engine 4 is close to the end of its useful life and is scheduled for replacement; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has identified the acquisition of a new fire engine as a top capital and public safety priority and has included a new engine on its CIP list for a number of years; and
WHEREAS, The Council recently removed the fire engine from the CIP List with the understanding that it was in the City’s best interest to purchase an engine as soon as possible with a general fund appropriation; and
WHEREAS, The Council recently authorized the issuance of a Request for Proposals for construction and equipping of a new fire engine; and
WHEREAS, Proposals have been received and reviewed by the Fire and Public Works Departments and the Chief recommends that the contract be awarded to Oregon Fire Equipment Co.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council does not wish to finance or lease this equipment but prefers to pay a lump sum upon delivery in about one year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council proposes to pay for this equipment by using a combination of FY 2007 Revenue Sharing Funds, revenues from the sale of Lot 18 (Ordinance 07-51), and the fleet reserves.
