RESOLUTION 08-17(A)

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, DECLARING THAT THE HIGHEST, RESPONSIBLE BIDDER FOR LOT 1, OLD LIBRARY PROPERTY IS LAURIE AND JIM HESTON, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS TO FINALIZE THE SALE.

 

            WHEREAS, The City of Homer has solicited bids for the sale of Lot 1 and Lot 2, two separate parcels that comprise what is commonly known as the Old Library Property, for eight weeks beginning on December 13, 2007 and ending on February 8, 2008; and

 

            WHEREAS, This proposed sale of real property is being conducted under the authority of Ordinance 07-17A, Resolution 07-105, and HCC 18.12; and

 

            WHEREAS, These two parcels are offered for sale independently and must be bid upon separately, and

 

            WHEREAS, The minimum bid for Lot 1 is $462,500; and

 

            WHEREAS, HCC 18.12.040 (b) provides that the City Council shall open the sealed bids at the next regular Council meeting after the closing date for submittal of bids; and

 

            WHEREAS, The City Council opened bids at its regular meeting on February 11, 2008.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council hereby declares that the highest responsible bidders for these parcels are as follows:

 

            Lot 1: Jim and Laurie Heston           Bid: $462,500

 

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to complete the sale transaction with the highest responsible bidders named herein, pursuant to HCC 18.12.

 

            PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 11th day of February, 2008.
