RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR
BID DOCUMENT PREPARATION/CONSTRUCTION ASSISTANCE SERVICES FOR THE REPLACEMENT
OF FOUR PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE (PRV) STATIONS TO THE FIRM OF BRISTOL
ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICES CORPORATION OF ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $35,000 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE
DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, At the October 26, 2009 City Council Meeting
it is expected that Council will authorize the City Manager to apply for,
execute, and accept loan monies to replace four existing pressure reduction
vaults on the water distribution system in the amount of $500,000; and
WHEREAS, These funds are part
of the Water and Sewer Project Economic Stimulus Program funded through the
ADCE and ADWF; and
WHEREAS, Public Works will need assistance to meet the
funding deadlines established under the program, with a signed construction
contract due prior to January 16, 2010; and
WHEREAS, The City currently has a term contract with
Bristol Environmental and Engineering Services Corporation (BEESC) to complete
water and sewer design/construction assistance projects; and
WHEREAS, BEESC is the most qualified firm to complete
the design of the Homer Pressure Reducing Valve Station Project to meet funding
deadlines; and
WHEREAS, This award is not
final until notice is received by BEESC of Anchorage, Alaska, from the City of
Homer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska, hereby
awards the contract for bid preparation/construction assistance services for
the Homer Pressure Reducing Valve Station Project to the firm of Bristol
Environmental and Engineering Services Corporation of Anchorage, Alaska, in the
amount of 35,000 and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
appropriate documents.
