RESOLUTION OF THE
WHEREAS,
The District Attorney’s Office for the
WHEREAS, The District Attorney has a very large caseload and is not able to devote as much time and resources to Homer area cases as is optimal; and
WHEREAS, The City of Homer has experienced a significant increase in criminal activity over the past year and the community is looking for ways to address the problem; and
WHEREAS, Establishing a District Attorney’s Office here could serve to increase the number of cases prosecuted and increase the number of convictions; and
WHEREAS, A locally based District Attorney could provide a more convenient and accessible resource to law enforcement officers and assist with the timely drafting of search warrants, affidavits, and other relevant documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council finds that establishing a District Attorney’s Office in the community would reduce crime and promote a safe and healthy community.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council hereby expresses its support for
establishing a District Attorney’s office here and urges the State of
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution shall be provided to the Governor, the Attorney General, the Commissioner of Public Safety, Senator Stevens, and Representative Seaton.
