RESOLUTION 09-24(A)
A RESOLUTION OF THE
WHEREAS, The City of Homer has submitted an application for funding to the Alaska Energy Authority for a feasibility study of the potential to harness tidal power in Kachemak Bay (Resolution 08-110); and
WHEREAS, The City intends to also submit this project for funding in the Federal FY 2010 Capital Budget and to other potential funding sources as appropriate; and
WHEREAS, This project is consistent with the Stimulus Bill, the priorities articulated by the President and the Governor regarding alternative energy and energy independence, and the City’s adopted Climate Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, This project will be attractive to funding agencies because it offers a significant local match, strong regional support, and many collaborators and partners including state and federal agencies, municipal and tribal governments, and the local electric utility; and
WHEREAS, In order to be eligible for funding, this project must have the support of the local, sponsoring governing body.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council hereby expresses its
support for funding of the
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council hereby adds this project to its 2009-2014 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) List.
