A RESOLUTION OF THE
WHEREAS, The Homer Boys and Girls Club will soon be celebrating its 10th anniversary and is a second home for many local children and families; and
WHEREAS, The Club’s focus is on after school youth programs, including a focus on self, inclusion, and diversity; and
WHEREAS,
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the
WHEREAS, Measures have been implemented to offset expenses including limited operating hours and a reduction in employee’s benefits; and
WHEREAS, The City of Homer provides annual contributions to their local Boys and Girls Club in excess of $106,000 by providing the building, utilities, and maintenance services; and
WHEREAS, Other communities on the Kenai Peninsula provide annual contributions to their local Boys and Girls Clubs to include the City of Seward $35,000, the City of Soldotna $30,000, and the City of Kenai $45,000; and
WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula are positive places for kids that offer after-school academics, environmental stewardship, digital arts, multi-media fine arts, and athletics; and
WHEREAS, Additional funding is needed to allow the Clubs to remain solvent and operable for the sake of our children’s well-being.
