RESOLUTION 09-51

 

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT TO INSPECT THREE CITY DOCKS/MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REPAIR TO THE FIRM OF PND, INC. OF ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $52,870 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

 

            WHEREAS, The City received a settlement of $800,000 in compensation for the failure of the pile coating system on the Pioneer Dock; and

 

            WHEREAS, The sum of $600,000 is set aside to mitigate the Pioneer Dock pile coating failure; and

WHEREAS, All three City Docks (Pioneer, Deep Water, and Fish Docks) are in need of structural and cathodic protection inspection and the firm of PND, Inc. has performed these inspections in the past; and

WHEREAS, An evaluation of the effectiveness of the cathodic protection system needs to be completed and alternatives considered prior to designing a fix to the Pioneer Dock pile coating problem; and

WHEREAS, Public Works has determined that PND, Inc. is the most qualified to perform these services and recommends that they be awarded a sole-source contract; and

            WHEREAS, This award is not final until notice is received by PND, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska, from the City of Homer.

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska, hereby awards a contract to Inspect Three City Docks/Make Recommendations to Repair in the amount of $52,870 to the firm of PND, Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska, and authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents.

 

      PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 26th day of May, 2009.
