CITY OF HOMER

HOMER, ALASKA

                                                                                                       City Manager

RESOLUTION 09-85

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR AUDITING SERVICES.

WHEREAS, The current contract between the City and Mikunda / Cottrell, the firm which performs it with audit services expires this year; and

WHEREAS, Mikunda / Cottrell has provided the City with audit services continuously since 1998; and

WHEREAS, Although the City Procurement Code provides for an exception to bidding requirements for the procurement of consultant and technical services (HCC 3.16.060 b), it is generally a good idea to solicit proposals periodically, especially since the City has not done so for over ten years, there are a number of firms that could provide this service, and this is a significant expenditure (current contract $60,000); and

WHEREAS, The Administration recommends that the Council authorize a Request for Proposals.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council finds that issuing a Request for Proposals for auditing services is in the best interest of the City and authorizes the City Manager to do so.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 10th day of August, 2009.
