A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ESTABLISHING THE 2000 REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE FOR THE CITY COUNCIL, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD, PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION, PLANNING COMMISSION, AND THE PORT/HARBOR COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the City Council annually approves the schedule for regular City Council, Commissions, and Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, the public is informed of such meetings through the kiosks located at Eagle Quality Center and Lakeside Mall, the Clerk's Calendar on KBBI, the City's Home Page on the Internet, as well as posting at City Hall, Public Library, and Port and Harbor; and
WHEREAS, HCC 1.14.020 states City Council may adopt a resolution setting out the days of each month and the time and place of the regular meetings of the body; and
WHEREAS, Special Meetings will be advertised in a local paper of general circulation at least three days before the date of the meeting or broadcast by local radio.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska establishes the 2000 meeting schedule as follows:
Holidays - City Offices closed:
January 1, New Year's Day, is Saturday so Offices will be closed on Friday, December 31st.
February 21, Washington's Birthday, the third Monday
March 27, Seward's Day, last Monday
May 29, Memorial Day, last Monday
July 4, Independence Day, Tuesday
September 4, Labor Day, first Monday
October 18, Alaska Day, Wednesday
November 11, Veteran's Day, is a Saturday, so Offices will be closed on Friday, November 10th
November 23 and 24, Thanksgiving Day, fourth Thursday and Friday, day after
December 25, Christmas, Monday
**If on a Sunday, following Monday is observed as the legal holiday; if on a Saturday, preceding Friday is observed as the legal holiday.

Regular City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
*The City Council traditionally reschedules regular meetings that fall on holidays on the following Tuesday. The City Clerk places this on the preceding regular meeting agenda for Council's action to conduct that meeting on Tuesday rather than the Holiday Monday.
** The City Council traditionally cancels the last regular meeting in December and holds the first regular meeting and a Special Meeting for the adoption of the Budget and other end of the year items.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Homer City Council, that the 2000 meeting schedule is established for the City Council, Economic Development Commission, Library Advisory Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, and the Port/Harbor Commission.
