Homer Airport Terminal Partially Reopened; Services Resume

Update April 2, 2026

The Homer Airport Terminal is operational, but at a limited level. Users should be prepared for a construction zone experience for the foreseeable future. We appreciate the community's patience as we work through this event.

Building restoration crews have largely completed initial cleanup and stabilization work at the terminal. Flooring has been cleaned, and damaged base molding, sheetrock, and insulation have been removed to allow full drying of the walls. Industrial dehumidifiers remain in place and continue to reduce residual moisture.

At this time, we have implemented a limited reopening of the facility. Public access is restricted to the northeast entrance, with the interior screened to allow use of the ticket counter area only. Aleutian Air and Pioneer Car Rental, have resumed operations within the terminal under this configuration. This allows the public to once again access services inside the City’s facility rather than relying on temporary arrangements elsewhere.

We believe this setup can be operated safely on an interim basis while we await further evaluation from our engineers. Two egress points are available, and staff have been instructed to evacuate the building immediately in the event of any seismic activity.

We are also coordinating with the Alaska Bus Company and have indicated they may temporarily utilize a third counter position once their lease is finalized by the State.

This remains a temporary arrangement. As engineering assessments are completed, conditions may change. We could be in a position to expand access—or, alternatively, face the possibility of more significant structural concerns requiring closure.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update March 31, 2026

The eastern portion of the Homer Airport Terminal has reopened. The western portion remains closed due to flood damage.

Presently, Alaska Bus Company, Aleutian Airways and Pioneer Car Rental are operating out of the east end of the terminal. Travelers should use the door at the east end of the building.

We appreciate the community's patience during this time and we will continue to share updates when we have them.

March 23, 2026

Due to a water line break and flooding in the building, the Homer Airport Terminal is temporarily closed.

Alaska Bus Company services out of the terminal are not affected.

Aleutian Airways flights in and out of Homer are through the Bald Mountain Air building next door to the Homer Airport Terminal. Due to limited parking space at Bald Mountain Air, travelers can park at the Homer Airport Terminal parking lot.

The City of Homer is actively working to repair the flood damage and restore the terminal as quickly as possible, but at this time we have no estimate of when the terminal will reopen to the public.

We appreciate the community's patience during this time and will share updates when we have them.
