The City of Homer invites the public to join us to learn more about what is happening at the Homer Education and Recreation Center (HERC) site.

Tuesday, May 20th
Homer Public Library Fireplace Loung
Doors open at 6pm. The presentation will begin at 6:15pm.
Please send questions or comments to planning@ci.homer.ak.us

Special guests include staff from the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Brownfields Program and consultants from BGES – an environmental consulting firm hired by the State to conduct hazardous materials testing. BGES will also evaluate different options for cleaning up the site and develop an Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) report that details site-specific conditions, regulatory standards, effectiveness of cleanup methods, implementation feasibility, overall costs and recommends a remedial action.

Learn from our guests:

  • What is Brownfields?
  • What challenges are causing delays at the HERC site?
  • What is happening now?

Staff from the Center for Creative Land Recycling will facilitate the discussion. We look forward to seeing you there!
