Author Talk with Brian George Smith
Calendar Date:
Write What You Know!
A discussion on the craft and art of writing, both memoir, and fiction.
Featuring select readings from his memoir, and the Ida Mae Joy, Alaskan historical/adventure trilogy, Brian will cover all aspects of his process for writing, designing, and self-publishing his books.
This event will also be the World Premiere and Launch of Ida Mae Joy Book III, MacGregor's Gold, the third and final installment of this series. (All three novels, as well as Brian's memoir, Golden Boy, will be available for sale, by arrangement with The Homer Bookstore.)
About the Author
Brian George Smith is a fourth-generation Alaskan. He grew up in Anchorage, spent 20 years Outside (SF Bay and Seattle areas), and moved back to Alaska, and Homer, in 2005. A filmmaker, screenwriter and video editor by trade (35 years), Brian made the transition to full-time author of books in 2020 with the Pandemic. His memoir, Golden Boy: The Rock ’n’ Roll Diary of My Life, is available, as are the first two books of the Ida Mae Joy series: Gold Dust Dreams, and, Pearl: In Search of Ida Mae Joy, inspired by the life of his great grandmother, and her time in Skagway during the Klondike Gold Rush.
Brian makes a living primarily editing and designing books for other people, and, when not at the computer, can be found taking care of a pesky passel of older and special needs cats (Roundhouse Rescue) here in Homer, the most beautiful place on Earth.
