Digital Equity Town Hall
Calendar Date:
This event is hosted by the Alaska Municipal League as part of a series of listening sessions across the state. This facilitated conversation intends to help guide community stakeholders through a conversation on digital equity, and in
completing a survey that will inform statewide work.
We expect this session will be less than two hours, and participation will be both by invitation and for members of the public interested in the dialogue.
What is Digital Equity?
Digital equity is about ensuring that Alaskans have what they need to thrive relative to increased broadband. In particular, an equitable approach ensures that all residents of our communities can successfully overcome barriers and participate effectively. We are working with communities to better understand why broadband access is important, how broadband use affects community, challenges that are faced, and what the future might look like. We’re especially interested in the role of our anchor institutions and invite representatives from the Tribe, school district, utility, library, and health clinic to attend. Beyond that, we invite organizations that work directly with youth, elders or seniors, veterans, people with disabilities.
