Subject: Official Road Maintenance Map Quinault Avenue

The City of Homer has maintained all of the streets within the Kelly Ranch Estates Subdivision since annexation occurred except the portion of Quinault Avenue west of Clearwater Drive. Maintenance hasn’t occurred on this 470 foot stretch since there were no homes west of Clearwater Drive.

Within the last year or so, a new home has gone in on Copalis Street, and the owners have requested that the city maintain Quinault up to Copalis Street, which is not constructed to Rural Road standards.

This Department has evaluated Quinault Avenue and found it to be of the same standard as the rest of the subdivision. This fact, and the fact of the new residence allows us to make recommendation that this 470 foot stretch of roadway be added to the official road maintenance map. Upon the Council’s approval, please add the .09 miles of roadway to the official road maintenance map for year-round, rural road maintenance. See attached map for the location of the street.

Fiscal Note – Annual maintenance cost for this added street is estimated to be $2115.
