Re: All Hazard Mitigation Plan Adoption
As you know we recently updated the City of Homer All-Hazard Mitigation Plan and submitted it to the State and FEMA for approval. The plan has been approved but still needs to be finalized. The final step in this process is to formally accept and adopt the updated plan for the City of Homer and approve the plans inclusion into the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s All-Hazard Mitigation Plan as and Annex and approve the Borough’s Plan. The Borough’s plan includes the Kenai Peninsula All-Hazard Mitigation Plan as well as all the other plans from the other municipalities within the Borough (including Homer’s). This final step is necessary to enable the City of Homer to remain eligible for future funding of hazard mitigation projects we have identified in the plan when/if funding becomes available. As this plan is a dynamic document we are also required to update the plan at least every five years and to review the plan annually or immediately following a declared disaster. This is something we can accomplish in-house with minimal expense.
