Subject: Award of Construction Contract
Homer Spit Trail Shore Protection Project
On June 20 bids were opened for the Homer Spit Trail Shore Protection Project. This work was advertised in the Homer Tribune and the Peninsula Clarion in May (in accordance with the City of Homer Procurement Manual).
This project consists of the construction of amour rock shore protection at the entrance to the Small Boat Harbor, from Coal Point Park south to the Pioneer Dock. It provides for the Coal Point Trail being completed using a cruise ship head tax monies provided through the TORA agreement between the City of Homer and the Department of Transportation.
Two responsive bids were received:
Alaska Marine Excavation LLC $ 1,152,560
Endries Company $ 884,624
Engineer’s Estimate $ 762,866
The low bid is a little over 15% of the engineer’s estimate, but is within the overall budget established by Public Works based on grant monies available for the project.
Recommendation:
City Council pass a resolution awarding the construction contract for the Homer Spit Trail Shore Protection Project in the amount of $884,624 to Endries Company of Soldotna, Alaska and authorizing the City Manager to execute all appropriate documents necessary to complete this project.
