Homer Harbormaster’s Building / Deep Water Dock Trail Boardwalk

On June 19, 2014 bids were received for the Homer Harbormaster’s Building / Deep Water Dock Trail Boardwalk project.  This work was advertised in the Homer Tribune, Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News during the month May.

These projects will consist of constructing a new 4,778 Sf. Harbormaster’s Office building located on the Homer Spit’s Freight Dock Road directly adjacent to the Seldovia Fast Ferry terminal. The new office building will consist of a concrete foundation and wood framed structure that will extend 15’ over slope of the Homer Harbor banks.

The Deepwater Dock Trail Boardwalk will consist of structural cast in place concrete columns and beams that will carry a wood framed boardwalk out and around the southwest side of the Harbormaster’s office building carrying trail pedestrians and bicyclists out over the Homer Harbor.

Four responsive bids were received from qualified firms.  The bid results were evaluated and the results are as follows:

Recommendation:

City Council pass a resolution awarding the construction contract for the Homer Harbormaster’s Building / Deep Water Dock Trail Boardwalk project in the amount of $2,082,697.00 to Steiner’s North Star Construction, Inc. of Homer, Alaska and authorizing the City Manager to execute all appropriate documents necessary to complete this project.
