Memorandum 15-044
To: Mayor and Council
From: Marvin L Yoder
Date: February March 18, 2015
Subject: Fireweed Avenue
The City has received numerous complaints regarding the condition of a portion of Fireweed Ave. A portion of the road was built to City standards through an assessment district. However, another portion was not included and is not likely to be included in an assessment district in the near future.
It would be expensive to totally rebuild that portion to City standards. Public Works has investigated the road and believe a temporary fix could be accomplished for under $20,000. Feedback from the property owners indicates that the funds to temporarily repair the road could be collected from the property owners.
In the event the funds collected are not sufficient to complete the repair, the City would need to commit some HART funds.
We request permission to secure funding from the current users of Fireweed Ave. to repair the road. In the event insufficient funds are collected, we ask the Council to authorize an expenditure of HART funds.
