Memorandum 16-009
TO: Mayor Wythe and Homer City Council
FROM: Katie Koester, City Manager
DATE: January 6, 2016
SUBJECT: Surplus Sale and Spring Cleaning
Resolutions 16-003 and 16-004 authorize the City Manager to dispose of used and surplus equipment. The City has a number of office items – primarily furniture – from before the remodel of City Hall. Many of these items have little value, are currently stored upstairs at the HERC, and have been included in a surplus sale multiple times. In an effort to get these items to a useful home and do a little first of the year cleaning, I will set a date for area nonprofits to come pick up the items free of charge on a first come first serve basis. The Homer Foundation has a list of area nonprofits and sends out a monthly call for nonprofit needs that the City can use to let people know. Any items that are not picked up by then will be brought to the transfer site, where I am sure in true Homer style they will get picked over again.
