SUBJECT: Display of Sister City Artwork – Teshio
________________________________________________________________________________
Resolution 16-129 requested the Parks Art Recreation and Culture Advisory Commission (PARCAC) to explore a suitable venue to display the Sister City art collection. Ms. Morrow, Executive Director of the Pratt Museum, spoke to the Commission at their February 16th meeting. She relayed it may be possible to display the materials at the Pratt, or alternately, the Pratt could curate an exhibit in another location, such as City Hall. The Commission felt the exhibit should be in an area that was free for the public.
The Commission supports the idea of the Pratt curating a display, and working with the City Clerk’s Office toward that goal. Additionally, if Council approves funding, the Commission supports the creation of Sister City Day and cultural exchange with school students through Skype.
If the City Council supports the idea of the Pratt curating a Sister city exhibit, Ms. Morrow will bring the idea to the Pratt Board of Directors.
Recommendation: Council support the Pratt Museum curating a Sister City exhibit.
