Training Opportunities

The Homer Volunteer Fire Department regularly trains during its weekly Tuesday Drill Night. Every responder is trained and certified by the State of Alaska to at least the Firefighter I and / or Emergency Medical Technician level prior to being accepted as a member of the department. The department conducts EMT and Firefighter Recruit Classes periodically as openings occur.

Burn Permits

If you live within Homer city limits, burn permits for the use of burn barrels and/or piles are required year round and can be obtained at the Homer Volunteer Fire Dept., Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Emergency Preparedness

It is the goal of the City of Homer to provide every home and business in the city with access the all the information they will need to become prepared for any type of foreseeable emergency they could face.
