Homebound Services

 

Homebound services delivers a variety of library materials to residents in assisted living, skilled nursing and retirement facilities as well as those still living in their homes.

Materials are selected based on the participant’s wants and needs and will be provided until the patron no longer desires it, or when eligibility criteria have lapsed.

Magazines and Newspapers

The library subscribes to a wide variety of magazines and newspapers for adults, young adults, and children.

Videos

The Homer Public Library owns almost 5,000 movies and TV shows on DVD and Blu-ray.

Titles include a wide range of genres and subjects. Check them out!

DVDs and Blu-rays circulate for one week and can be renewed twice if there are no holds on the item.

The Homer Public Library book collection consists of over 40,000 books in the following sections: fiction, nonfiction, Alaskana, Russian language, large print, young adult, picture books, and more.

Homer Public Library has more than 1,500 audiobook titles!

Library Mission Statement

The Homer Public Library serves the diverse needs of our community members by providing access to information, promoting literacy, and facilitating lifelong learning. We foster education, personal well-being, cultural creativity, community engagement, and economic development. Our resources are offered without charge to people of all ages and abilities within our service area.

Computers and WiFi

Public Computers

We have computers available for public use! All the following are available:

  • Public workstations with internet access, basic office software and some graphics-editing tools
  • Laptops for checkout
  • Bring your own device and connect to the free wi-fi

Logging onto the public workstations requires either a library card or a guest pass, available at the front desk. The public workstations are time-limited.

Printing is offered in black and white (25 cents/page) and color (60 cents/page), but can only be done from the public workstations.

Meeting Room

The library offers free use of the meeting room for meetings and programs that serve an educational, cultural, civic, or recreational purpose.  Meetings and programs must be free and open to the public
