ORDINANCE 10-32
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING THE FY 2010 OPERATING BUDGET BY APPROPRIATING $10,000.00 FROM THE SISTER CITY RESERVE ACCOUNT FOR THE PURPOSE OF CELEBRATING THE TWENTY-FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY OF HOMER AND THE CITY OF TESHIO, JAPAN.
WHEREAS, Last year marked the 25 year anniversary of the Sister City relationship between the City of Homer and the City of Teshio, Japan; and
WHEREAS, A delegation from Teshio was tentatively scheduled to visit Homer last summer to celebrate the anniversary but was unable to do so; and
WHEREAS, The City recently learned that a delegation from Teshio is ready to travel to Homer this summer and tentative dates have been established for August 22 to August 25; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Hornaday has sent a formal invitation letter to Teshio and invited the delegation to visit Homer for a community celebration of the 25 year anniversary, the relationship of the two cities, and the cultural and economic exchanges this relationship fosters; and
WHEREAS, A Sister City Committee and the City Manager’s office recently met to develop a draft budget for this event for Council consideration, a copy of which is attached.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:
Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby amends the FY 2010 Operating Budget by appropriating $10,000.00 from the Sister City Reserve Account for the 25 year celebration of the Sister City relationship between Homer and Teshio, Japan as follows:
