Ordinance 14-22(A) Budget Amendment to Provide Natural Gas Conversion to City Buildings

ORDINANCE 14-22(A)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING THE 2014 OPERATING BUDGET TO PROVIDE FOR NATURAL GAS CONVERSIONS TO CITY BUILDINGS BY APPROPRIATING $83,270 FROM VARIOUS CITY RESERVE FUNDS.

WHEREAS, City buildings within the core area have been converted to natural gas; this summer natural gas will be available outside of the core area; and

WHEREAS, Like buildings within the core area, significant savings can be obtained by converting City facilities outside the core area to natural gas (see Memorandum 13-077); and

WHEREAS, Costs associated with this conversion include installation of service lines and meters, design and installation of heating system conversions (boiler or burner replacement and internal gas piping installation).

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

Section 1.  The FY 2014 Operating Budget is hereby amended by appropriating $18,562 from the Water Reserve fund for the conversion of the water treatment plant to natural gas.

Section 2.  The FY 2014 Operating Budget is hereby amended by appropriating $20,780 from the Harbor Reserve fund for conversion of the Harbor Maintenance Shop to natural gas.

Section 3.  The FY 2014 Operating Budget is hereby amended by appropriating $43,928 from the Harbor Reserve fund for the conversion of four Spit restrooms to natural gas.
