ORDINANCE 14-52

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING HOMER CITY CODE 20.12.010 TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF DOG LICENSES BY THE ANIMAL SHELTER.

THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

Section 1.  Homer City Code 20.12.010, License required -- Issuance, is amended to read as follows:

20.12.010 License required – Issuance.  No owner or harborer of any dog shall fail or neglect or refuse to obtain a license for such dog, as provided in this chapter:.  a. All dogs kept, harbored, or maintained in the City shall be licensed and registered if over four months of age. Dog licenses shall be issued by the animal shelter City Clerk on payment of a license tax for each dog. The owner shall state, at the time application is made for such license, his name and address and the name, breed, color and sex of each dog owned or kept by him. Dog licenses shall be issued for a period of two years and shall run from January 1st of each even-numbered year to December 31st of each succeeding uneven-numbered year. For dogs requiring licensing later in the license year, the license fee shall be the same as for a full two years, prior to January 1st of the succeeding odd-numbered year; and thereafter for the remainder of the license period, the license tag shall be one-half of the full license fee. Penalty: Class A infraction.

Section 2.  This Ordinance is of a permanent and general character and shall be included in the City Code.
