ORDINANCE 17-08
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING AN ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIES GRANT FOR SOUNDVIEW PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, The City submitted an application for an Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities 2016 Alaska Transportation Alternatives Program (ATAP) Matching Grant for the purpose of completing sidewalks and other pedestrian improvements on Soundview Avenue for the safe passage of children to West Homer Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, The ATAP Matching Grant was awarded to the City in the amount of $520,125.30, requiring a match of $208,049.70; and
WHEREAS, City Council appropriated Homer Accelerated Roads and Trails (HART) funds in the FY 2016 Operating Budget for Soundview Avenue sidewalk improvements that are available for the City’s matching funds for this ATAP grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:
Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby accepts and appropriates an Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities ATAP Grant in the amount of $520,125.30 with a required match of $208,049.70 from the HART Fund for the purpose of completing the Safe Route To School improvements on Soundview Avenue.
