Non-Motorized Transportation

Main Street

The City of Homer is continuing to make the city more pedestrian-friendly.  Incentivizing pedestrian travel for residents and visitors alike reduces vehicle emissions and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. The city already has a pretty robust system of sidewalks and trails, but now the focus is on improving connections between pedestrian areas by closing the non motorized gaps.

Work includes:

  • Updating the Non-Motorized Transportation Plan
  • Working with volunteer groups to build and maintain trail connectors
  • Identifying and planning for pedestrian travel prior to community infill and expansion.

The City is also continually asking for feedback regarding their non-motorized plan update. Below is a survey asking for public opinions and ideas for the non-motorized plan.
