Winter Roads & Right-of-Way Awareness
Winter season is a busy time for Public Works team to keep our roads clear and safe. City plows start running at 4am! Here you will find the latest updates on road conditions, where our road crews are sanding and plowing, any road closures, and public advisory notices.
We all need to do our part to make sure City Roads crews can operate the equipment needed to keep roads and Right-of-Ways clear and safe for everyone. Remember, blocking the Right-of-Way and City roads is prohibited.
What can you do?
- Keep everything out of the Right-of-Way and off roads to protect your property and avoid a fine.
- Do not push snow from your property onto roadways or into the Right-of-Way.
- Right-of-Way Ordinance
What is the Right-of-Way?
- It's the roads, sidewalks and also the space between the road and your property that is used for utilities, channeling of storm water via ditches, the area for the City to store plowed snow and accessing roads for maintenance.
Other helpful tips for Winter?
- Be prepared! Carry a kit in your car in case you get stranded.
- Check the City website for road closures and winter advisories before you go out.
