RESOLUTION 10-39
A RESOLUTION OF THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL REQUESTING THAT THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH CONTINUE FUNDING THE FULL TIME POSITION AT THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH ANNEX OFFICE IN HOMER.
WHEREAS, The Kenai Peninsula Borough Annex office in Homer has been a vital function for residents of the Southern Peninsula for over 12 years; and
WHEREAS, The Annex services Borough residents from Happy Valley south, representing over 28% of the Peninsula residents; and
WHEREAS, All residents, inside incorporated cities and outside, pay Kenai Peninsula Borough taxes; and
WHEREAS, The Annex staff acts as liaison to all Kenai Peninsula Borough Soldotna departments, providing a One-Stop convenience for local residents, sparing them the long drive to Soldotna; and
WHEREAS, The Annex staff is fully informed about Assessing, GIS, Planning, Roads, Spruce Bark Beetle Program, Finance, and the Clerk’s office; and
WHEREAS, Annex staff provides support for all of the above as well as a conference room when needed; and
WHEREAS, Annex staff provides assistance to the City of Homer for elections and other liaison issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council requests that the Kenai Peninsula Borough continue funding the full time position at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Annex office in Homer as has been the case since the office was established in 1997.
