RESOLUTION 11-027(S)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS PROVIDED IN MEMORANDUM 11-038 BY THE HOMER NATURAL GAS DISTRIBUTION TASK FORCE.
WHEREAS, The Homer City Council established the Homer Natural Gas Distribution Task Force through adoption of Resolution 10-75; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 10-75 included a scope of work for the Task Force which it has adhered to and worked hard to address; and
WHEREAS, The Task Force has held regular meetings, reviewed reports by the staff, heard presentations by interested parties including Enstar, and provided opportunities for public comment; and
WHEREAS, The Task Force has provided a set of recommendations to the Council in Memorandum 11-038; a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council hereby approves and adopts the recommendations provided by the Task Force in Memorandum 11-038.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council will actively pursue State funding for construction of the primary gas transmission line from Anchor Point and authorizes the City administration to initiate a coordinated and comprehensive public education and lobbying strategy to help ensure success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council will continue with the planning effort and prepare for the arrival of natural gas and authorizes the administration to prepare the necessary ordinances for Council consideration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council will work to select the best possible funding source and financing mechanism for expanding the natural gas distribution system within the Homer City limits.
