RESOLUTION 11-030
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, IN SUPPORT OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH’S CONTINUED FUNDING FOR THE KACHEMAK BAY CAMPUS.
WHEREAS, A proposal to suspend funding for the Kenai Peninsula College is under consideration in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor’s proposed 2012 Budget; and
WHEREAS, The proposed suspension of funding for the Kenai Peninsula College would directly affect the Kachemak Bay Campus, resulting in the termination of critical services and instruction to the students; and
WHEREAS, The Kachemak Bay Campus provides opportunity for post secondary education for more than 500 students, with an emphasis on smaller classes and individual attention; and
WHEREAS, The Kachemak Bay Campus provides students an opportunity for post secondary education at a place and price that makes vocational, college, and adult educational options a viable choice; and
WHEREAS, Kachemak Bay Campus provides for local jobs and promotes economic development within the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Homer City Council supports the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s continued funding for the Kachemak Bay Campus.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 14th day of March, 2011.
