RESOLUTION 14-076
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, APPROVING AND ACCEPTING THE DONATION FROM THE BUNNELL STREET ARTS CENTER OF A “MARINE DEBRIS RELIEF SCULPTURE OF SILVER SALMON” BY HOMER ARTIST LYNN MARIE NADEN TO BE PLACED AT BISHOP’S BEACH PARK.
WHEREAS, Bunnell Street Arts Center issued a Request for Proposals in conjunction with the Old Town Artist in Residency project for a new sculpture in Old Town; and
WHEREAS, Representatives of Bunnell Street Arts Center selected Homer Artist Lynn Marie Naden’s artwork of a “Marine Debris Relief Sculpture of Silver Salmon” to be placed at Bishop’s Beach Park; and
WHEREAS, Lynn Marie Naden is a talented artist whose work is held in many public collections throughout the State of Alaska; her artwork of a “Marine Debris Relief Sculpture of Silver Salmon” makes an environmental statement of how plastic and marine debris affect marine habitat; and
WHEREAS, Bunnell Street Arts Center would like to donate the artwork to the City’s art collection and has completed the required application for the donation; and
WHEREAS, The Public Arts Committee has reviewed the request for donation to the City of Homer and recommended that the City Council approve and accept the donation and incorporate it into the Municipal Art Collection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska, hereby approves and accepts the donation from the Bunnell Street Arts Center of a “Marine Debris Relief Sculpture of Silver Salmon” by Homer Artist Lynn Marine Naden to be placed at Bishop’s Beach Park, and incorporates it into the City’s artwork collection.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 23rd day of June, 2014.
