RESOLUTION 18-025
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, REINSTATING THE TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE AS A STANDING COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, The Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) was disbanded in 2014 in an effort to reduce the cost and work load associated with Boards and Commissions; and
WHEREAS, The duties and responsibilities of the Transportation Advisory Committee were given to the Homer Advisory Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, The Planning Commission is fully tasked with Planning duties; and
WHEREAS, The Transportation Advisory Committee can play an important role in advising Council on how to spend limited Homer Accelerated Roads and Trails funds with recent; and
WHEREAS, The City of Homer Transportation Plan is from 2005 and the Transportation Advisory Committee can plan an important role in advising on updating the plan; and
WHEREAS, It is in the City’s best interest to reinstate the Transportation Advisory Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska reinstates the Transportation Advisory Committee as a standing committee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Committee membership shall consider of a member of the Advisory Planning Commission, a Professional from the Road Construction Industry, and three members of the community, two of those members shall reside within the City of Homer.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Homer City Council this 26th day of February, 2018.
