Library Advisory Board

The Library Advisory Board was established via Ordinance 80-2 and operates under Homer City Code Chapter 2.48. LAB members work closely with the Friends of the Homer Library Board and volunteers, as well as the library staff and City of Homer, to ensure that the library gives the best service possible to the community of Homer. The LAB works with the Library Director to:

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission (PC) is established with those powers and duties as set forth in Chapter 2.72 of the Homer City Code. The Commission is established to maximize local involvement in planning and to implement and recommend modifications to the Homer Zoning Ordinance, Title 21, and Subdivisions, Title 22. The Commission's jurisdiction is limited to the area within the City boundaries and that area designated as the Homer Bridge Creek Watershed Protection District.

Economic Development Advisory Commission

The Economic Development Advisory Commission was established October 25, 1993 with the adoption of Ordinance 93-15(S)(A).  The Commission was inactivated on January 24, 2000 and reactivated February 27, 2006 by Resolution 06-20.  The EDC acts in an advisory capacity to the City Manager and the City Council on the overall economic development planning for the City of Homer in accordance with Homer City Code Chapter 2.76.040.

Meeting Information
The primary use of the room is that of a public library. The Meeting Room is intended to further the library’s mission through enriching lives and encouraging self-education.

All events held within the Library during scheduled operating hours when the Library is open to the public must be of a non-commercial nature, free of charge, and open to the public. Direct or indirect sale of any product or service is prohibited, except for sales sponsored by the Library or Friends of the Homer Public Library. Non-profit organizations may accept donations to cover the cost of program or workshop presentation.

Remember that the room must be vacated 15 minutes prior to library closing time.
Equipment Needs
A marker board and projector screen are in the room. The library will provide you with any of the following items if you request them at this time:

A conference-capable speaker telephone will be provided. The library not responsible for setting up conference connection for multiple callers.
Video conference setup requires 3-day notice for connections to other Alaska locations with OWL equipment (public libraries, universities), or minimum of 7 working days for out-of-network connections or times scheduled outside of Mon-Fri 9a-5p AK time).

The typical charge for ILL requests is $5.00 for a book and $6.00 for any audio/visual materials (videos, audiobooks, etc). This fee covers a small portion of our shipping costs. We are required to ship A/V materials via Priority mail, thus the higher charge. Our ILL staff will contact you before finalizing your request if items will cost more than the maximum you are willing to pay.
