Library CLOSED for Alaska Day

The library will be closed for Alaska Day on Tuesday, October 18th. The library will reopen on Wednesday, October 19th at 10:00am.

Lunch with a Councilmember: Donna Aderhold

WHEN: Tuesday, April 11, 2023 @ 12-1 pm

WHAT: Bring your brown bag lunch and join us for lunch with Homer City Council member Donna Aderhold.

The library hosts council members as an opportunity for community members to bring their questions and ideas to their elected representatives. One or two (or a few) councilmembers will visit each month for and informal conversation.

Western Lot Project Open House and Presentation

Saturday, October 8th, 12 - 2pm

Can't make it to the First Friday open house? Then stop by on Saturday when the Open House continues with a power point presentation, site walk, and collaborative discussion. We want to hear from you!

First Friday at the Library

Friday, October 7th, 4:30 - 6:30pm

The Friends of the Library are having an open house and invite one and all to stop by the library to check out three amazing concept designs of the Library's Western Lot Project.  These were created by landscape architects Peter Briggs and Elise Huggins in partnership with The National Park Service – Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program (NPS-RTCA).

Parks Art Recreation & Culture Advisory Commission Special Event

The Parks Art Recreation & Culture Advisory Commission will hold a recognition for Rotary Club of Kachemak Bay for  improvements at Ben Walters Park and their adoption of the park.

There will be Hamburgers, Hot dogs, Chips and Drinks provided as well as tents to cover picnic tables in case of inclement weather.

Set up will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Food and Presentation 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. 

Breakdown starts at 3:30 p.m.

Sustainability within the City of Homer

The City of Homer has policy guide for their employees' outlining reducing waste and energy usage within the public sector. 

This handbook explains policies regarding office equipment usage, HVAC systems, lighting for inside and outside facilities, and vehicle usage.
