Halloween Trick-or-Treat

Two kids walking down sidewalk in Halloween costumes and holding treat bags shaped like jack-o-lanterns.

Halloween is one of the most anticipated times of the year for young children. We're just a few days away from the ultimate night of tricks and treats, but we don't want any tricks when it comes to being safe and seen on our dark October roads.

Whether you're chauffeuring your children on a candy quest or just driving home from work, please slow down, be cautious in low lighted areas, and mindful of kids who might dart between cars and into the road.

Also, make sure your trick-or-treater can be seen. Reflective tape and flashlights help motorists see pedestrians in the dark. Have fun and be safe everyone!

  • To help keep trick-or-treaters as safe as possible on Halloween, streets in the Mountainview neighborhood will be open to one way traffic only from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, October 31. Traffic will flow east on Mountainview and west on Bayview Avenues, with a pedestrian lane open for trick-or-treaters. Parking is limited along the route, so motorists are encouraged to park at the high school or on side streets and walk from door to door. A flyer with a map is available in the documents below.
  • From 4 to 6 pm the Homer Chamber of Commerce hosts Pioneer Avenue Trick-or-Treat. Get your costume ready and your walking shoes on for trick-or-treating at participating businesses, including Homer City Hall. Please stop by, we love to see Homer’s creative costumes. The Homer Chamber of Commerce has provided a flyer below with QR code that links to an interactive map.
