The Alaska Redistricting Board will be holding a Public Meeting in Homer on Wednesday, October 13th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Best Western Bidarka Inn at 575 Sterling Highway.

Members of the Redistricting Board will be at the meeting to present and receive public feedback on the six proposed Redistricting Plans for reshaping the state’s electoral map.  Large printed maps will be on display at the meeting.

The public is invited to review the proposed plans, discuss the plans with board members, and leave public comments on what the state’s political boundaries should look like for the next decade.  You can also preview the plans and submit comments on the Alaska Redistricting Board website  https://www.akredistrict.org/map-gallery/ or email to testimony@akredistrict.org.  All Kenai Peninsula regional maps can be found at: https://www.akredistrict.org/files/4216/3338/7389/ALL_Kenai_-_Regional.pdf

Since not all board members will be able to attend all community public meetings, written testimony is encouraged so that all board members will receive comments quickly. Forms will be available at the meeting and staff members will be on hand to assist in submitting testimony via a web portal or transcribing or recording oral testimony.

The six different plans were adopted on September 20, 2021 by the five-member Alaska Redistricting Board.  One of the maps, after public comment and possible modifications, must be ultimately selected by November 10th.
