Thank You, 9-1-1 Dispatchers!

In times of intense personal crisis and community-wide disasters, the first place people turn for help is with a call to 9-1-1.

It's National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, and we wanted to take a moment to show our appreciation for all that our dispatchers do, 24/7, 365 days a year to protect the citizens of Homer.

Emergency dispatchers are the unsung heroes of public safety, putting in countless hours behind the radio, phone and computer to get you the help you need, when you need it, while also helping protect the safety of our police and fire responders.  The complexity of responding to calls, the time critical nature of fire and EMS operations, and the intensity of these events demand a special set of skills and knowledge from dispatch personnel. 

Thanks to our dispatchers for their professionalism, competence, dedication, calm demeanor and compassion during the performance of their job.  In our minds you deserve much more than a week of recognition!
