A Reading Road Trip - Alaska

The Homer Public Library is excited to announce that we will be featured on an upcoming episode of American Stories: A Reading Road Trip!

Premieres December 3 at 4PM AKST

Join PBS Books and the Library of Congress as American Stories: A Reading Road Trip makes the trek to Alaska! From the shimmering dance of the Northern Lights to the sweeping expanse of its landscape, Alaskans have been weaving stories long before the written word. Explore the works of adventurers like Jack London (Call of the Wild), conservationists like Margaret Murie (Two in the Far North), and anthropologists like Frederica de Laguna (Travels Among the Dena), alongside the first Alaska Poet Laureate John Haines (The Stars, The Snow, The Fire).

Hear from writers who carry forward this deep connection to the land, including Velma Wallis, Michaela Goade, Dana Stabenow, Seth Kantner, and Nancy Lord.

A Reading Road Trip–Alaska streams on December 3 at 4PM AKST / 8PM ET on Facebook Live, YouTube, and the PBS App.
