RE: Homer Airport Roll-up Baggage Door Replacement Recommendations
__________________________________________________________________________________
Public Works Building Maintenance has over the last several years made repairs to the stainless steel roll-up doors in the baggage area of the terminal by replacing pieces and parts. The door now needs to be replaced, it can no longer be repaired. This door was originally installed when the building was constructed and is now 16 years old. In its current condition, it is a safety hazard; it will not reliably lock in the up position and can slam down closed without notice.
The cost to purchase a new door and install it is $7,725 ($7,125 purchase, $600 to install).
Recommendations: The City Council amend the 2010 budget by passing an ordinance authorizing the expenditure of $7,725 for the replacement of the door from the Airport Reserve account.
Fiscal Note: Airport Reserves; $7,725; 156-388
