Subject: Award of Construction Contract
Karen Hornaday Park Campground/Trail Improvements
On September 4, 2014, bids were received for the Karen Hornaday Park Campground/Trail Improvements project. This work was advertised in the Homer Tribune on August 13 and August 20, provided to the Plan Rooms, and posted on the City’s website, in conformance with the City of Homer procurement procedure requirements.
This project is funded by a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (State of Alaska) and consists of providing a looped pedestrian trail (for ballfield/park users and access for maintenance equipment). The project will also provide campground access roads/camping space gravel overlays and drainage improvements. See attached plan.
Five responsive bids were received from qualified firms. The bid results were evaluated and the results are as follows.

The City’s local bidder’s preference does apply. The low responsive bidder is local.
Recommendation:
City Council pass a resolution awarding the construction contract for the Karen Hornaday Park Campground/Trail Improvements project in the amount of $70,438 to Arno Construction of Homer, Alaska and authorizing the City Manager to execute all appropriate documents necessary to complete this project.
