TO: Marvin Yoder, City Manager
FROM: Mark Robl, Chief of Police
DATE: March 6, 2015
SUBJECT: Safety Equipment Purchase
The council approved our 2015 budget request to upgrade our safety equipment. The approved budget for this project is $36,852. This project will replace and upgrade the set of safety equipment we provide to every officer. These kits include medical packs, helmets, uniforms, precision bullet resistant vests, first aid kits, ballistic boots, goggles, belts and some other related items.
We have obtained pricing for this equipment from several vendors. The best pricing by far is from ADS Operational Equipment. They are a well-known public safety equipment supplier and have offered us GSA contract pricing. We would like to buy the majority of our equipment from them at a cost of $27,782.28. We will have to obtain the remainder of the equipment for this project from other public safety equipment sources. This will consist of several small orders to the firms offering us the lowest cost. I anticipate coming in under budget by approximately $2,000.
I request council permission to purchase up to $27,782.28 of equipment from ADS and to buy the rest of our equipment from other vendors in accordance with the city procurement policy.
Fiscal Note: Expenditure, $36,852 to 156-0394-5602
