SUBJECT: FY 2018 Special Services Contract Renewal
The Alaska State Troopers have requested that we renew the contract for special services that we have with them. I recommend we obtain council approval to renew this contract.
The City has had this contract with the state for more than 27 years. The contract reimburses the City for allowing troopers to use City facilities and equipment as needed. It also pays the City for transporting state prisoners to/from arraignments and for housing their Title 47 detainees.
The state proposes to renew the contract at the existing rate of $36,000 annually. I feel this is fair compensation for the services we provide to them.
