Staff from the library and the Center for Alaska Coastal Studies join for an outdoor story and activity. This is a 8 week program. Meet at the Story Walk Trail @HPL!

Find Your Voice! Summer@HPL Kick-off!

Summer@HPL launches with crafts, games, and a story time at 11:30! Join us inside and outside the library on Saturday morning! Register for the reading challenge if you haven't already! Learn more about all the fun coming up at the library for kids 0-18 at the library this summer!

 

 

End of Summer Reading Program Party!

All Ages!

Sat. July 29, 5-7pm 

Summer@HPL concludes with an outdoor party at the library including music, games, ice cream, and hot dogs. Reading challenge participants will be awarded books and prizes. LEGO contest winners will also be announced! 

 

 

LEGO Movie!

Wednesday, July 19th at 6pm

All ages/families

Join us for a showing of the Lego Movie! Watch Emmett find his voice as he figures out if he is the special! Can he save the world from Lord Business?  

 

 

Find your Voice: LEGO Contest!

Design a LEGO creation related to the Summer Reading Theme: Find Your Voice! Use your imaginations to create something that demonstrates the theme! Follow your own ideas, not LEGO instructions! (No LEGO sets, please.)

Bring your creations to the library July 19-July 22. (On July 19, we're showing the LEGO Movie!) To be included in the contest, entries must be at the library by 5pm on July 22. 

Judging will take place the week of July 24. Winners will be announced at the End of Summer Reading Party on Saturday July 29. 

Stories and S'mores at Bishops Beach

DATE CHANGE!

For kids of all ages and their grown-ups.

Thursday July 20, 7-8pm

Because of the weather, we've decided to postpone until Thursday July 20!

Join us for an evening story time at Bishop's Beach, featuring talking and singing games, stories and s'mores! We'll meet at the pavilion near the beach. S'mores provided.

 

 

 

Family Story time on the Spit!

Tuesday, July 11th at 10:30am | Weather Permitting!

 

Ages 0-5 and their grown-ups

Join us for a special story time on the Spit! We'll gather at the Boat House Pavilion near the harbor for stories, songs and silliness! 

Find your Voice: Writers Club!

Tuesday, 7/11, Wednesday 7/12, Thursday 7/13 and Tuesday 7/18 from 3:30-5.
 
For kids 9-12! Work with writer Mercedes Harness to create a story from start to finish! Writers may have the option to read their story on public radio, and/or place a completed book in the library for others to read!
 
 

American Sign Language Club!

For kids 7-12! Learn some of the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) from educator Sherry Pederson. We’ll use stories to learn vocabulary.
