AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING AN AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT (ARRA) COMMUNITY ECONOMIC STIMULUS GRANT ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $161,979.77 FOR THE PURCHASE OF ELECTRIC AND HEATING FUEL AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The City submitted an application for an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Community Economic Stimulus Grant being administered by the State of Alaska, Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development (ADCED) for municipalities to address anticipated shortfalls in tax revenues due to the downturn in the economy; and

WHEREAS, The State approved the City of Homer’s grant application in the amount of $161,979.77 to be utilized for the purchase of heating fuel and electrical services.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF HOMER ORDAINS:

Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby accepts and appropriates a grant of $161,979.77 from the ARRA ADCED Community Economic Stimulus Grant Program as follows:

Section 2. This is a budget amendment ordinance, is temporary in nature, and shall not be codified.
